Vision Statement

The Friends of the Castroville Public Library envision a thriving, sustainable library, accessible to all, and dedicated to preserving the past and discovering the future.

Mission Statement

The Friends of the Castroville Public Library is formed exclusively for charitable, literary, and educational purposes as specified in Sec. 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended. These purposes are:
  • To cultivate and maintain membership of individuals and businesses supportive of the Castroville Public Library (hereinafter referred to as "the CPL");
  • To support and cooperate with the CPL in developing, maintaining, and enhancing facilities, resources, and services for the public;
  • To encourage gifts, endowments, memorials and bequests for the benefit of the CPL;
  • To focus public attention on the CPL in order to stimulate the use of its facilities, resources and services.

Perpetual Book Sale

The Friends of Library host a perpetual book sale at the Library. Browse the book carts at the library's front entrance. The Friends book sale now operates on a pay-what-you-want basis. Suggested donations are $1.00 for hardcovers and $0.25 for paperbacks. Please place donations in the metal boxes on the carts. 100% of profits go to Friends of the Library.

Flags Across Castroville

Please join Venturing Scout Troop 471 and Friends of the Castroville Public Library in proudly displaying our American flag in front of your home or business on 6 holidays throughout the year. Venturing Scout Troop 471 will install a hidden ground sleeve curbside and place a handsome pole-mounted 3'X5' American flag on display during the below-listed holidays. Little Free Library Project

The Friends of the Library are working to place Little Free Libraries throughout the community. A Little Free Library is a small box where people can "leave a book, take a book." If you are interested in having a Little Free Library placed at your business or residence, please contact us. We currently have one LFL at the prayer garden at the First Baptist Church. Go visit!
