The City of Castroville is a Type "A" General Law city with a Mayor at-large and five Single District Council Members. The terms of Mayor and Council are for a period of two years. To run for office in a general law city in Texas the candidate must meet these requirements:
Be a citizen of the United States;
Be at least 18 years old on the date of the Election;
Be a registered voter in the state of Texas for 12 months and the city in which they reside for 6 months prior to the date of the regular filing deadline or for write-in candidates prior to the date of the election; and
Be a resident of the city for 12 months to file for Mayor or 6 months in the district in which the candidate wishes to represent.
General Election for May 2019
Applications were accepted for the positions of Council members for District 1, District 2 and Mayor, from January 16, 2019 through February 15, 2019 by 5 pm.
The last day to submit an application to Medina County Voter Registrar to register to vote in the May 2019 election or for requesting transfer of registration in time to vote in a new precinct not in the same county and territory is April 4, 2019.
