Elections

The City of Castroville is a Type "A" General Law city with a Mayor at-large and five Single District Council Members. The terms of Mayor and Council are for a period of two years. To run for office in a general law city in Texas the candidate must meet these requirements:

  • Be a citizen of the United States;
  • Be at least 18 years old on the date of the Election;
  • Be a registered voter in the state of Texas for 12 months and the city in which they reside for 6 months prior to the date of the regular filing deadline or for write-in candidates prior to the date of the election; and
  • Be a resident of the city for 12 months to file for Mayor or 6 months in the district in which the candidate wishes to represent.

Applications will be accepted for the positions of Mayor and Council members for District 1 and District 2, from January 18, 2017 through February 17, 2017 at 5 pm.  Please check back for more dates and times on the
upcoming General Election.

A complete packet will be available in the City Secretary's office Monday - Friday between the hours of 
8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from January 16, 2017 through February 17, 2017.
